Life in McCall is centered on the 8.3 square mile Payette Lake with a scenic shoreline marked by private homes, public beach access and the Payette National Forest. The miles of shoreline bordered by national forest will always keep Payette Lake the pristine gem of McCall and the center of that gem is Ponderosa State Park.
Mile High Marina has over 185 newly renovated boat slips for moorage, a fuel dock and lots of rentals. |
Ponderosa Park is located on a 1,000 acre peninsula that splits Payette Lake just north of downtown McCall. Ponderosa Park has some of the largest old growth Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir and other species in the Western United States and draws people from all over the country year round to enjoy public beaches, trails and abundant wildlife. Also a world class Nordic skiing venue, the Park is the site of the 2008 Masters World Cup.
Little Payette and Upper Payette Lakes
Little Payette Lake is mainly a hang out for float tubing fly anglers in search of big trout but it’s also off the beaten path for low key still water paddling in your canoe or kayak. Both Little and Upper Payette Lakes offer a quiet refuge and a true bonanza for bird watching in the spring, summer and fall—from sand hill cranes to the Western Grebes, one of the most common species on the lake. The best access to Little Payette Lake is from Lick Creek Road which has a boat launch.
