Parks
Ponderosa Park is located on a 1,000 acre peninsula that splits Payette Lake and is located two miles northeast of downtown McCall. The Park has some of the largest old growth Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir and other species in the Western United States and draws people from all over the country year round to enjoy public beaches, camping, trails and abundant wildlife. Also a world class Nordic skiing venue, Ponderosa Park was the site of the 2008 Masters World Cup.
The City of McCall operates five parks on Payette Lake: Davis Beach, Brown Park, Legacy Park, and Art Robert's Park in downtown McCall and Rotary Park located east of Shore Lodge. For more information and directions visit www.mccallparksandrec.com
The multimillion dollar restoration of Legacy Park is now complete! The project has created more cohesion and connectivity between Payette Lake and downtown McCall with a pedestrian promenade, amphitheater, boardwalk, as well as streetscape and parking improvements to East Lake Street.
The Harshman Skateboard Park is Idaho's largest and was commemorated in August 2006 by Tony Hawk.
Dogs are now allowed in city parks on leash and are also welcome at the State operated Ponderosa Park and North Beach located at the northernmost point of Payette Lake.
